Leukaemia Foundation Doorknock Appeal has now finished 16 Jul 2011 - 29 Jul 2011 Fast facts The Leukaemia Foundation’s Doorknock Appeal will run from 16 - 29 July 2011. Money raised from the Doorknock Appeal goes towards the care and cure of patients and their families living with a blood cancer. The Foundation hopes to raise $1.2 million from this year’s appeal. Volunteers are a key part of the campaign, knocking on neighbourhood doors to raise these vital funds. It is estimated that 2000 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders this year. Each year, the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland invests more than $1 million in blood cancer research. The Foundation provides almost 40,000 nights of free accommodation to patients and their families each year who move to Brisbane or Townsville for treatment. Two of the Foundation’s accommodation facilities in Brisbane and Townsville are currently being expanded to meet this continued high demand. |
